The role of women
Attri Cooperative: First Training Sessions and Initial Production

In Attri, about fifty kilometers north of Agadez, the women of the cooperative have begun their first training sessions, under the attentive guidance of Minata, the project coordinator.
The first cohort is made up of women from the village who are already involved in community life. They have committed to these training sessions with the desire to learn, to produce, and to build an activity that can provide them with a regular source of income.
From the outset, the training was designed to be highly practical. The women work directly on concrete items, in line with local needs.
The first weeks were therefore dedicated to making dresses. These initial productions allowed the participants to review the basics of sewing, improve their precision, and gain confidence in their work. The first pieces have come out of the workshop, ready to be worn and used.
Following these first productions, the cooperative is now moving into the making of underwear. This choice responds to an identified local demand and enables the women to diversify their activities.
It is also an opportunity to learn new techniques, refine finishing details, and consider more regular production. Each new step strengthens the group’s skills and its ability to operate independently.
Beyond sewing, these training sessions strengthen the collective. The women learn how to organize themselves, work together, and plan for the long term.
This first cohort lays the foundations for the development of the cooperative. The lessons learned during this phase will help adapt future training sessions and continue support in close connection with local realities.
